Who Needs the Flu Vaccine?

Almost everyone! But too few who need the protection of the flu vaccine actually get it. The flu season has begun and there is plenty of flu vaccine. The CDC recommends that we should get ourselves protected and should start doing it now. Flu kills about 36,000 Americans a year and hospitalizes about 200,000. It usually takes about 2 weeks for protection to develop after the vaccination. The flu shot is recommended for all children 6 months through 18 years of age, for health care workers, people living in dormitories or other crowded conditions, women who will be pregnant during influenza season, and others with special medical conditions.
